What About Bob?

Bob has been a full time professional photographer since the early eighties. He had shot in all film formats from 35mm to 8x10 before becoming a digital photographer, in either studio situations or on location. Over the years he has shot it all, from editorial news to corporate industrial jobs, from nature landscapes to lifestyle people and fashion, from still life products to fine art. Bob now finds himself swept up in the digital wave, leaving the darkroom behind and bonding with a computer addicted lifestyle.

Bob's large studio/home is in a building that used to be an old neighborhood corner drug store on a half acre lot. The art-deco entrance and 21 seat lunch counter are still intact. Bob thinks loft living is the only way to go. City livin' with a big garden and good wilderness access right in the center of the scenic Western U.S.A. Aaaaaaahh.....

Historical Division: More About Bob and His Checkered Past!

Well...How ARE you anyway? I myself am feeling pretty good. ...relaxed, refreshed ...downright perky! You know it has been a long time since we met last (or was that someone else), and I'm flattered ....no....honored that you have come to see me. Hey! check out some of my other mug shots here:

Here I am practicing my "technique". It does take an awful lot of practice. ....Years of practice.

You know, people ask me all the time; "Bob, just what is it exactly that you DO?" Well!....That is a really good question. By the way, thanks goes to the photographer of the above image, Bill Milner, for capturing the "essence" of what it is that I "do"....

Now... where were we? Oh yeah, what I do... I take pictures...well I don't actually TAKE them, I shoot them.... well I guess I don't really SHOOT them....I push the buttons and move the position of the machine that records images, and sometimes I adjust or add the light that is reflecting off of the objects and people that is eventually recorded by the machine that I'm using. Then I take the recorded data and click my mouse on it and make mathematical algorhytms change the little pixels in unknown ways until it looks better than it did to start with. ...Oh.... and I get to decide what "better" means. I also use my mouse and keyboard to manipulate "virtual 3D" pixels on my computer screen to create sculptures that people can walk around and see inside the VR world 'Second Life'.

Whew!.... My fingers get tired just thinking about it.

What else do I do? Hmmmmmmm.........I seem to shovel a lot in my garden (I do have excellent shovel technique by the way, something I learned long ago at my summer job at the Tooele lead zinc smelter, I also learned how to spit the length of a railroad car but that is another story)...... I like to hang out and talk about nothing in particular with other people who like to hang out while drinking caffeinated beverages...... I like to go online into Second Life and hang out and talk about nothing in particular with other people who like to hang out while drinking..... who KNOWS what! ... I end up shuffling papers around a little bit..... I sit passively while observing various forms of "entertainment"....... Occasionally I get out of town and go to the wilderness for some good hiking and general looking around.... I tend to move my right index finger up and down quite a bit on my computer mouse while surfing them there InterWebs and Twitterifying and Plurkifying and all that ..... A bunch of time is spent sitting right here where I'm sitting now typing random stuff into an html editor program or learning ANOTHER gawdawful program that I HAVE to learn this month.... Maintenence: much of my life is taken up by maintainence. You know, washing things and sweeping things and fixing things and watering things and blah blah blah..... Personal maintenence is something I promise to spend more time on for the benefit of those in my presence..... heh!

The more stuff you own, the more of your life is spent on maintenance. .....Wow......kinda makes ya think doesn't it?.....deep, man.

Bye for now.....
